The Importance of Literacy

Nearly 1,900 language groups still need the Bible in the language—and format—that serves them best. For many of these groups, exposure to Scriptures through digital devices or oral stories creates a desire for literacy and a hunger to read God’s Word for themselves. As they turn to Wycliffe for help, we provide assistance whenever possible in partnership with local churches, national Bible translation organizations, and SIL, our key training partner in linguistics, translation, literacy, and other elements of language development.
